Whatever the quality of lyrical contents I suppose that guys like G.S.Heron or Hall and Oates and many others had in mind that a song is also something to be hummed and have people to dance on…Making songs nowadays is no longer a popular form of art…

  2. jacksonrrr says:

Man how did we go from soulful to supporting whores like britney and pop rappers like wanye it’s sad.

  3. Loomr says:

@mokacode, yea I actually think that art thrives from some degree of controversy in our life.. sloth today exist so much because of the easiness of our lives .. most of our troubles nowdays are internal. .. Heron I think expressed the external difficulties in life. Sure you can express these internal problems as well but that might make you sound like an “emo” ;)

At least this is how I see it.

  4. mokacode says:

more than 150 years ago a german composer(R.Schumann) said:”Without enthusiasm, nothing worthwhile is accomplished in art”.I would add “without expectations ,hopes…without GUTS…etc…
Sure living in America must be a daily struggle for so many americans….

  5. chandasman01 says:

We can blame the record execs and artists for only wanting to make a dollar! And alot of the artist probably feel like there is no more struggle in America!

  6. mokacode says:

making songs nowadays has turned into a syphilitic form of musical art…mouahahahha….what to put the blame on?Sloth?Greed?….

Good David, keep listening. Unlike modern rap/soul acts, Gil was all about compassion for those who are hurt by social injustice. This is soul music that educates your soul.
    It’s all good.

hey hey now im 15 allmost 16 and i love this music, the funky beats! the rock of the 60s and 70s, i melt to the sound of the blues and jazz and rise to the lowdown beat of disco, yes 95 percent of kids my age and younger listen to terrible rap (yes there is good rap, biggy smalls, dr dre, ziggy marley) but i also enjoy classic raggae (bob, his sons) classic relaxing music like cafe del mar or flywheel
not to be arrogant, but i wish other kids would listen to good music like me…..
